OUR STORY
I have always been passionate about burgers! But my love for California style smash burgers didn't start until I moved to Phoenix, Arizona for my pilot training in 2012. It was my very first flight instructor Cooper Lee who introduced me to In-n-Out. This popular fast food chain was found in 1948 in Baldwin California and is now one of the most famous regional burger chains in the South West of the United States.
Cooper spent a few years in Longbeach, California as a flight instructor and he was adamant that we should go to In-n-Out and ask for a Double Double Animal Style from their “secret” menu. This was my first introduction to a typical California style cheeseburger! Throughout my 7 months in Phoenix I have had more In-n-Out Cheeseburgers than I should but it's safe to say that my interest for California style cheeseburgers was born.
During a trip to Las Vegas we went to the Mandalay Bay to eat burgers at the Burger Bar by Hubert Keller. I ordered a $25 dollar Kobe style wagyu beef burger and another world of burgers opened up and changed my way of thinking of Burgers. I am sure this is probably the best quality burger I’ve ever eaten. Regardless of the Burger Bar in Las Vegas I still went to visit In-n-Out!
Fast forward a few years and I'm a commercial airline pilot flying around Europe. I started writing a business plan In 2015 to start my own Burger Restaurant; BEEF was the working title at the time. Unfortunately I realised very quickly that I did not have time to fully commit and focus on opening a burger restaurant whilst flying full-time. I put this idea in the fridge and figured I would do this once I find some time.
When I changed airline and moved to the Middle East, I started flying long-haul flights all over the globe. Every time I visited a new destination I always tried to find out where I could eat the best burger in town.
I was fortunate enough to spend a lot of time in California, especially Los Angeles and San Francisco. The burger pop-up scene and street food scene has really blown up over there and spending a lot of time in California made me understand that keeping things simple and efficient is essential. Los Angeles is where I developed my love for smash burgers! The rich flavour of high quality beef, the simplicity, the technique and Maillard-reaction is what makes smash burgers so incredibly tasty!
In 2020 I lost my job as a pilot after I was faced with compulsory redundancy due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Whilst hard to accept that my career as a pilot was put on hold it also opened the door to what is now known as Chuckaburger! I realised there is no California style smash burger joint around East Sussex and felt that it was my calling to bring my love for the Californian smash burger to the streets of East Sussex, starting in Brighton & Hove. After many months of developing my technique, style and burger I finally took the step to opening up the Chuckaburger Food Truck!

Additional service time: £150 per extra hour of service if required
Travel fees apply outside Brighton & Hove at £2.50 per mile
For all bookings a £150 deposit is required to secure the date.
The remaining amount is due 2 weeks prior to the event.
To avoid the possibility of us not having enough time to serve all burgers within the agreed service time we advise that you and your guest order your burgers as soon as we start serving.
In the instance that all burgers are not ordered within the set time frame, due to circumstances outside of our control, the remaining burgers will unfortunately be forfeited or an additional hour of service will be charged at £150 per hour to finish all remaining burgers. This will be invoiced after the event.

Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations made more than 30 days in advance of the event date will receive a 50% deposit refund. Cancellations made within 30 days of the event date will not receive a deposit refund.
